Hillsboro High School placed third at the Brookwood "March Mateness" Chess Tournament.
Ben Koopman placed 7th overall and Ethan Spencer-Wangen placed 8th overall.
The Hillsboro Chess Club offers more than just fun and games, studies have shown that playing chess can help develop a number of skills, including spatial intelligence, abstract reasoning, memory, patience, complex problem-solving, and calmness under pressure.
