On Thursday, May 2nd, five artistic eighth graders from Hillsboro Middle School participated in Desoto School’s Visual Arts Festival. The event provided students with an opportunity to explore their creative potential and work across multiple disciplines.
A key highlight for students was meeting guest artist Jillian Woelfle-Olson, co-owner of All Glazed Up. Beyond showcasing her artwork, Woelfle-Olson offered an inspiring perspective by sharing her journey of building a successful art-based business. By illustrating the viability of pursuing a career in the arts, her story served as a powerful motivator, encouraging students to continue developing their artistic passions.
The festival also offered three interactive "make-and-take" art stations. These stations provided hands-on exposure to printmaking, the detailed-driven art of stamp carving, and the world of vintage collage.
The Desoto Visual Arts Festival proved to be a significant opportunity for the Hillsboro eighth graders, broadening their artistic base and introducing them to new forms of expression.
