The School District of Hillsboro is excited to announce that all students enrolled in our district will have access to free breakfast and lunch during the upcoming 2024-2025 school year! This is thanks to our participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.
The CEP program allows schools with a high percentage of students from low-income families to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students.
The adoption of CEP in our schools offers a variety of benefits for students and families, including a reduction in food insecurity within our school community. CEP ensures that all students have access to nutritious meals onsite throughout the day. Studies have consistently shown that students who regularly consume breakfast and lunch at school exhibit greater focus, improved attendance, and achieve higher scores on tests.
Additionally, the program brings significant relief to families by eliminating the stress associated with packing lunches or managing the cost of school meals. Ultimately, the CEP program represents a valuable investment in the health, academic success, and overall well-being of students and their families. Our participation in the program beyond the 24-25 will remain under review, and we'll update families about our ability to carry this program on beyond next year.
