The Hillsboro School District celebrated the outstanding contributions of two recent retirees at its August Board meeting. Karla Frederick and Don Obert were recognized for their combined decades of service to the district.

Karla FrederickKarla Frederick dedicated over fifteen years to the Hillsboro School District. Her roles included teaching Title 1 and fifth grade, managing the school store and snack shop, serving as a piano accompanist for solo ensembles, and contributing to the fifth-grade leadership team.

Don Obert’s commitment to the district spans an impressive 50+ years. He began his career driving a personal bus to transport students to and from Valley School before transitioning to Stenerson Bus Service, and ultimately becoming a direct employee of the Hillsboro School District in 2017. Renowned for his reliability and dedication, Don was consistently praised for his punctual morning routes and timely afternoon pickups, earning him the affectionate title of “the Rock.” His exceptional service was further acknowledged by the Wisconsin School Bus Association with an award for over 63 years of safe driving.
