Congratulations to Ty Rafel (9th grade) and Paige Verbsky (10th grade) who auditioned and were accepted into the WSMA (Wisconsin School Music Association) band and choir! Over 1,400 students auditioned for 428 positions in the WSMA state honors band, choir and orchestra. Once they accept, students will need to attend a week long camp in the summer, and 2 days in the fall, in which they will perform at the Wisconsin Music Education Association convention on October 24, 2019. Way to go #HSDGoTigers! What an accomplishment! #TigerProud

Throwback Thursday
On Tuesday, March 26th members of Hillsboro's Bike Shop traveled to Reedsburg to collaborate with Reedsburg's after school Bike Shop program! Twenty repaired bikes were hauled to Reedsburg to add to over one hundred bikes they have repaired and donated to people in need around the world. A portion of the bikes will be taken to Milwaukee to give to Syrian refugees while the others will go to the non-profit organization, The Orphan Grain Train, who will distribute them to people of need around the world. In addition to donating bikes, #HSDGoTigers toured the Reedsburg shop and worked alongside #ReedsburgPride students on bike repairs for the afternoon. Mr. Gary Williams leads the Reedsburg program and has been a tremendous help and mentor to Hillsboro's program! #GivingBack

On Monday, the sophomores had the privilege of hearing Holocaust Survivor, Alice Schoenfeld's story of survival! Alice was nine years old and living in Presov, Slovakia when Nazi occupation forced her and her family to hide their identities until the end of the war. At the end of the presentation, students were able to ask Alice questions about her story! This video conference was part of a cross-curricular unit taught by Mrs. Madden (10th grade English), Mr. Nugent, and Mrs. Olson (10th grade U.S. History). #HSDGoTigers #History
